The walkway begins to incline and Van knows that they are going higher. “We’re here,” Grizzlebark reminded. Like an automated door that opens when someone is entering, the leaves move to make a way for him. And from there Van now sees the whole place. There is actually a giant maze hidden in the forest. Due to the wall of trees blocking the view, the maze is not visible on the ground. In the middle of the maze is a large rotating hole, like a swirling eye of a vortex. A giant hourglass is suspended above the maze. “The hole will lead you out of this place,” Grizzlebark explained, “but you must cross the woods first to reach the maze. Just remember to keep going forward and do not look back.”

I considered the ceiling but waved off the idea then I sat down in resignation and chewed on my lower lip nervously. “I really hope Sarah’s okay, I have to get to her before the scary witch does.” I mumbled and everything in the room started to float, it suddenly felt like I was falling but not reaching the ground, like everything around me was afloat except me. I struggled to keep afloat but it wasn’t working so I gave in to the feeling of falling and waiting for when I’ll finally reach the ground. My eyelids became heavy and my vision blurry, the next thing I know, I was engulfed by thick darkness.

The haunted house was everything the reviews promised: pitch-black corridors, fog machines choking the air with cold mist, chainsaws revving somewhere in the distance, and actors jumping out with perfect timing to make my heart slam against my ribs.
