Novel & Cerita Inside Her Book

The book served as a refuge, offering solace and a temporary escape from the tumultuous emotions that lingered in the recesses of her mind. Veronica's fingers delicately turned each page, engrossed in the tale of characters navigating their own trials and triumphs. The rhythmic sound of flipping pages echoed in the quiet room, creating a gentle melody that harmonized with the subtle cadence of her breath. The story's allure held her captive, guiding her through a literary journey that paralleled her own quest for understanding.

She looked up. He had a book in his hand. Not his copy — hers, a different one, something she had picked up from the edge of the desk without thinking about it. He was looking at the inside cover with the reading quality, the thorough one, and she understood with cold clarity what he had found. She had a habit she'd had since she was twelve of writing dates and thoughts in inside covers. Not for anyone else. For herself. A kind of distributed journal she kept across all her books. She had filled this particular inside cover in August, six weeks before any of this had started.

It felt like she was still here with me, in this room, and for a moment, I forgot about everything else. I heaved a heavy sigh and turned around, but something caught my attention on her bookshelf. There, nestled between the works of Jane Austen, was a small leather-bound journal that I had never seen before. I picked it up, feeling its soft cover under my fingertips and carefully flipping through the pages. As I read her delicate handwriting, my heart ached with both joy and sadness. This journal was a window into her thoughts, her feelings, her dreams. It was like a piece of her that I had never known before.

I needed to cut her off. "Look, they're doing the walking around the fire thing." She said. I hummed non committal. "I read about it in this book by Drethi Anis. Five thousand nights of obsession. The book was so good." "You read?" I asked. I had never seen any book in her apartment or caught her with a book. "Yes." She blushed, then quietly. "Romance books." "You don't strike me as the romance type." I looked at her intently. "Is it one of those raunchy books with shirtless men carrying scabbards on the cover."

I read until my eyes burned and my head ached. Nothing. Not one single record of an alpha being marked from the inside out. Not by a mate. Not by anyone. My frustration grew sharp and ugly. “That’s impossible,” I said aloud, voice echoing softly. “Something like this does not just happen without precedent.” I looked around more to see if there was something I was missing… I looked toward the inner safe and saw a book. The book did not sit with the others. It rested alone on a lower pedestal, darker than the rest, its cover smooth like stone but warm when I stepped closer. The title shimmered faintly, letters shifting until they settled.

” I asked her, even though I already knew the answer. “There is always step one,” she said with a flirtatious smile on her lips. “My work is done here. We are now even.” With that, she walked out of the room, and the door closed behind her. I walked around the room, taking everything I saw as slowly as I possibly could. My eyes landed on a particular book on a shelf. I reached for it, I cleaned up the dust, and read the title. “Book of spells.” Good thing that I’m not a witch.

I just want to bury anything related to her. But, while I was finally cleaning my bedroom, which she had occupied for a few months, I discovered a book on my bookshelf that she had asked me to buy previously. As I examined the book, I was surprised; I had never found any of her belongings before when looking for proof; did I simply overlook this one? I took a look at the book and discovered it was a mystery thriller; I chuckled in disbelief when I saw the title, "The Weight Of Lies." Seriously, Sierra? This was the one you chose out of all the books you could have left?

The countdown vanished. Only the doorway remained. Only the room. Only the book waiting on the desk. And somewhere deep inside her forgotten memories— Ama suddenly knew that whatever truth had been hidden for centuries was not behind the door. It was inside the book she had once written herself.

Then she came in and sat and held them both, one after the other, with the ease of someone who had always known exactly how to hold the things that mattered. "The Returning," she said quietly, more to herself than to anyone, and I understood she was thinking about her book — about the things she had written about coming back, about the daily choosing, about what it meant to find yourself in a present tense you hadn't expected to inhabit. She was thinking about how the story she had told and the story she was now inside had arrived, through the most unlikely route, at the same place. "Yes," I said, knowing what she meant without needing the explanation.

My mind went back to the present after hearing Diane. "What about it? What's that?" I asked when I saw her holding a book. So she's been looking at this place just for a book? "Come here, let's see the inside." She sat on the floor, the dusty floor and it will surely make her dirty. But even more, I followed what she did to take a good look at the book she was holding. I used the torch in my hand to see the title of this book that has a black hard cover. "Three Dimensions to the other world?" Even in the title, I could tell that this is not just a normal one. I would like to see the content then.
