Inside The Library Novels & Stories

His face lit up when he found what he was looking for, “Hyacinth Dale and a new scholar, Cathedra?” Cathedra shyly raised her hand and mustered a tiny squeak, “Right here, Sir.” “Okay, your building is just down this street and turn left at the first corner. It’s the red building on your right.” The security guard picked up his walkie-talkie and pressed a button that made a staticky sound. “Clear. Open the gates, over.”

Some were covered in ivy and flowers that seemed to bloom even in the rain. “It’s beautiful,” I whispered again. Ivy gave a small smile. “It always feels like magic here. Like time slows down.” “How far is the library?” I asked. “Not far,” she said. “It’s at the center, hidden beneath the hill.” I nodded, gripping the wheel tighter. I couldn’t explain why, but something in my chest tightened the closer we got. A pull. Like I was heading somewhere important. Like I was supposed to be here. Soon, the car reached a round stone archway. It was covered in vines, with glowing runes carved deep into the stone.

"It's a little more complicated than that, I want to know we are making progress and this won't set us back, so tonight I want you to do something for me, I can't tell you what just yet I need to know you fully trust me." My stomach clenched at all the possibilities I would be opening myself up to at this moment but I needed to see Evelyn for my own piece of mind. "Okay" I sighed, as he opened the door to reveal a library, one that resembled the library in Beauty and the Beast. I was mesmerised. My mouth hung open as I took in the sight of the thousands of books that were merely a couple meters within my reach, there were subfloors to the library as I craned my neck up to examine the rows up

She opens it by trailing a zig zag pattern and chanting something my mind cannot even grasp. My stomach muscles churn as anxiety and eagerness are flooding me the moment we step inside. I release the breath I didn’t know I was holding after I scan the surroundings of a pretty much regular room, a table with four chairs in the middle, and a bookshelf holding some old, dusty, worn out books that seem to disintegrate any minute now. “A library within another library.” Blake voices looking around, his eyes conflicted. Kendra motions us to have a seat, and then she takes out a large book from the shelves, we flinch as the book hits the table with a thud.

We reach the third floor where the library is situated. We try to get inside, but in vain. Somehow I know we won't be able to get inside the library. Lord Agamanan, said that much earlier. But, I held hope that we might be able to go inside since Darius is inside. "Oh no," Mel mumbles looking inside the library through the open wall which Darius broke for me. We all run towards her and my eyes widen at what we see there.

“He is in the library.” “Thank you.” I pass through the living room to get to the library. The living room is painted golden and has three small chandeliers. The couches are brown, and the centre table is a darker shade of brown. I walk out of the living room and take first door on my right into the library. “Ismail,” I call out entering the library. “Umit, I am over here,” Ismail says from the far-right corner. “Close your eyes,” I request walking toward him while hiding the croissant at my back.

“Let’s go!” She grabbed my hand again and pulled me inside. I heard her greet an elderly lady behind the desk busy stacking books and writing something down, who politely nodded back with a toothy grin. The library was huge, like the humongous type huge. The interior gave off a vintage yet contemporary vibe with all those lined up two-way wooden shelves packed with books, loose green boards on the ceiling above them pointing out the different genres, round tables surrounded by four chairs each lined up on both sides of the entrance leading to the lined-up shelves towards the other end of the dome-shaped hall. Small indoor plants were kept beside the bright glass windows facing the vast playg

The body was covered with a white cloth as cops stood around it, nothing much there to see, I thought. “Lilith,” a voice whispered. I whirled, but everyone was paying attention to the scene. “Lilith,” the creepy voice whispered again but this time, I saw someone— a woman with black hair, moving away library window. Who was that, I wondered? Cautiously, I approached the old building, looking at his brick walls and large wooden doors, “Tell me about vintage,” I whispered. Screeching from the pressure I applied it, I pushed the door open, closing it softly behind me. Inside the library was spacious, judging by the elevated shelves, and the widespread aisles, I co

“Can we go?” Ray nodded. “Sure.” The library was tucked behind tall iron doors at the end of a quiet wing. A guard stopped us as we approached and looked down at Ray’s boots. “No muddy boots in the library.” Ray looked at his feet and groaned. “Seriously?” I laughed. “It’s okay. I’ll just be a second. I already know what I'm looking for.” “You sure?” “Yeah. I’ll be fine.” Ray stepped back, muttering something about needing a nap, and I slipped inside.

So, I walked myself to my favorite place, the library. Standing outside the library door, I felt like I was home. With a peek inside, I saw row after row of neatly lined books with their spines facing outward, color-coded with dots, fiction section arranged in alphabetical order, young adults’ section, and biographies of ancient people. Comfortable leather armchairs. They arranged tables for quiet study with muffled stillness and a librarian at the help desk. Inside, the coarse cheap carpet on the floor felt comfortable, while students were at computers doing book searches or surfing the web.
