Inspector Sloane Strikes Again
Captain Foster glanced down at Mona clinging to his leg, disgust plain on his face.
Then he stepped past the crowd and walked straight up to me.
He straightened his cap and gave me a sharp, textbook salute.
"Inspector Sloane! The financial crimes division responded to your tip. Full team's in position."
That one ringing "Inspector Sloane" was the final straw.
Walsh, who'd only just come around enough to catch his breath, heard the official police confirmation, rolled his eyes back, and passed out cold again in the puddle he'd made.
I gave Captain Foster a small smile and nodded. Then I snapped my fingers and tilted my chin toward the technician standing behind him.
