Smith’s expression didn’t change, but his tiny brows pulled together slightly, his lips pressing into a straight line. “I don’t get it,” he muttered. His voice was small but firm. I exhaled sharply, trying to reel in my frustration. “Okay. Again. Slower.” I untied the lace and started over, this time explaining every step like he was a shareholder in one of my father’s business deals. I even used my business voice…clear, precise, slightly condescending. Smith still didn’t get it. He tried, though. His tiny fingers fumbled with the laces, his face scrunching up in concentration. But the moment he pulled, the whole thing unraveled again.

Maybe if I just tried—just a little—I could see what the fuss was about. My hand moved hesitantly, fingers grazing my stomach before trailing lower. Nothing. No spark, no rush of pleasure, just the awkward realization that I had no idea what I was doing. I frowned, trying again, following the instructions I’d read. Still nothing. The voice from the video droned on, giving more instructions, but it was starting to irritate me. I didn’t want to hear a stranger’s voice in my ear while I did this. I turned off the phone, tossing it onto the pillow beside me.

No… guidance?” Marcus smirked faintly. “Welcome to survival.” I crossed my arms. “That’s not helpful.”

But if it misunderstood. It could create something I didn’t want. Something I didn’t see coming. And that. That was how systems formed. Not through control. Through automation. Through small decisions that added up. Until something larger took over. I exhaled slowly. “Then I need to be clear.” Not just in action. In intent. Because anything unclear. Anything incomplete. Could now be filled in. By something that wasn’t fully me. I straightened. Then spoke again. “Fifth rule.”

Disapproval of what, I have no idea. “What? What is wrong?” “You don’t see it, do you?” he whispers nervously. I furrow my brows. “Everett, what are you talking about?” “Nothing. It doesn’t matter.” Everett lets go of me and crawls up the bed, slipping under the covers. I don’t move. I am confused. I don’t see what? What is he talking about? It must be drunken gibberish. I shake my head and exit the room, making sure the door is locked and get him some water before returning to the bedroom. Everett is crashed out, snoring away. Switching the light off, I set the water next to his side of the bed before I climb in.

Linda responded with urgency in her tone. Isa grabbed her phone and dialed the delivery man's line but his line was switched off. “Fvnk!!” She dropped the phone noisily, tucking the strands of her hair behind her ear. “You have to be careful why doing this else you will miss a step. My master gets irritated once he spots a slight mistake.” “Even though you forget any of these steps I'm about to teach you, don't forget to smile at him with a wink.” Linda explained, illustrating with almost every part of her body.

I should be able to hear you. I nod but his instructions are rather confusing. I figure I better just keep up.

How did he miss the size difference between the frame and her? “Thanks. I’m having a hard time working out one room from another. Without the room names or the dimensions. It’s just odd. Also, who marks north on a floor plan like this? It’s strange. Unless someone didn’t know how to draw a map or write in English. But why wouldn’t they write in a language they knew?”

she asked like she already know what her response is going to be. "I don't understand myself" Laura muttered. "Yes it is normal. What you are suffering from is uncertainty. You have to be certain of where you are going and what you are going there to do. Now you get back to those computers and check some things" she advised her. "But that is not actually the way out of here" Laura mumbled as she walked to the computers' front. "Once you are there, you look for what triggered the ping. You find that first" she instructed and paused definitely waiting for her reply.
