Smith’s expression didn’t change, but his tiny brows pulled together slightly, his lips pressing into a straight line.
“I don’t get it,” he muttered. His voice was small but firm.
I exhaled sharply, trying to reel in my frustration. “Okay. Again. Slower.”
I untied the lace and started over, this time explaining every step like he was a shareholder in one of my father’s business deals. I even used my business voice…clear, precise, slightly condescending.
Smith still didn’t get it.
