Easton kneeled down to take my shoes off before sitting beside me on the couch. There was a number in the middle of each compartment, from number one to nine. She pressed it in the order of 258614. "Crack, crack, crack!" All the bookshelves moved and showed a path. Stella looked at the gold and jewelry inside and was stunned.

One was super big so I guessed it was his office because Dakota was going to get Alpha Ian's office. So I crossed that door out and I walked into the right door. It was all books. I walked further in and books piled up on the floors because of the cramped space on the shelves were too full. There was a love seat next to a window at the end of the room. I looked up and saw it had a glass roof. It was starting to get dark and stars started to come out of their blue cover that the hid in the day. It folded. The longhouse, the bronze trees, the rusted Enforcers, and the white river were sucked into the center of the leather book like a silk sheet being pulled through a ring. For a fraction of a second, Xander and I were the only things left standing in a void of perfect, silent black—our hands locked together, our hearts the only two metrics remaining in the unwritten space.
