Is Audio Book The Same As Reading Novels & Stories

I wish I had enough money for a phone and cordless headphones because it would be nice to fill some of this time with audio books. Maddie and I visit the public library every single Saturday morning. We check out the maximum number of books that we’re allowed, and we finish most of them before the next visit. We are both speed readers and enjoy learning as much as we can on almost any subject. But I can’t read on the job, so despite the library having free books on audio, most of my day is spent in silence.

"I process differently through sound."

she whines. I roll my eyes, taking a sip of my strawberry smoothie. “You literally have a live audiobook voice at home. Instead of you to make use of him, you are here stealing my book and reading yourself,” she says. I move my eyes from the book to her. “Of course, I’d tell my boss, who is also three years older than me, to sit and read me a book because he has a great audiobook voice, and he’d just listen to me,” I say sarcastically.

He stared down at my book. "I don't know how you feel that is enough to truly escape." He shakes his head at my method. "I find it a bit more lasting than drinking. Other than that they are pretty much the same. They both leave you broken at the end of the experience. But at least you can take something away from reading." He scoffs at my words. "What could you possibly take away from reading?" He spits. "How on earth can it help you escape like drinking or drugs can?"

i can learn so much from reading it. In the middle of drowning in my book I felt a presence opposite me and heard the sound of chair screeching and within a half minute I heard a rough male voice " Hey there! iam watching you from the last one hour reading that book without moving.so,I came here to check that you are dead or so" He said laughter in his voice.

I closed my eyes. Down the hallway behind the locked door I heard it. Faint. So faint it was almost not there. His voice. Reading. The same rhythm I had stood outside and listened to after the faculty dinner. Low and private and not meant for any ears but his own. The rise and fall of it. Words too soft to make out but the shape of them clear. A voice reading something it knew completely. Something learned so thoroughly it lived in the body now rather than the mind. I lay very still and listened.

It had been so long since she’d thought about that. Her life had been consumed by business and family obligations, but beneath the weight of those responsibilities, there was still a part of her that longed for simpler pleasures. “I used to enjoy reading, before...” Chloe gestured vaguely, referring to her blindness. “Now I listen to audiobooks. I get lost in them. It’s my escape when everything else feels overwhelming.” Leo nodded, his eyes softening at her words. “I can imagine. Sometimes getting lost in a story is the best way to find a bit of peace.”

He read as though it were a procedure. This was the only way I could describe it. He held the book at a reasonable angle and he read at a pace that was neither rushed nor artificially slow, the pace of someone who had determined the correct pace through prior consideration and was now implementing it. He did not do the voices. He did not add editorial commentary or pause to discuss the illustrations. He simply read, steadily and clearly, the words on the page in the order they were written. The book was about a bear and a rabbit who were trying to determine which of them could stay awake longer.

“We improvise it live.” Pauly handed her a slim, battered paperback—Mockingbird, cover worn, pages gutted to hold a wafer-thin transceiver and a micro-SD slot. “Your new copy. Same weight as the real one. Press the title twice if you’re burned; it wipes your last three hours and plays an audiobook. Press the author twice and it pings us with location.” She slid the book into her tote without looking. “And if I press the spine?” “It complains about being objectified,” Pauly said.
