He looked haunted. “I never stopped searching,” he said. “I thought you’d died.” Georgia shook her head, tears sliding down her face. “I wanted to. Some days.” Henry’s hands curled at his sides. “Tell me about her. About the little girl.” “She’s mine,” Georgia said. His jaw moved. “And mine? ”

He was called salty. As Georgia sat in her newly green car with her cat and all her worldly possessions, it was her father who first came out on the porch and stood there watching her. Then her mother drifted out anxiously. Georgia opened the car door, and Minny spat some disparaging sound at Georgia before she hoped down to weave her gracful way to Felicia. Her father wobbled the railing to test it's strength, and finding it stable, leaned against it and waited. They knew something was wrong. They knew what she'd been through with Philip's death, but they had thought she was finally all right. What had happened over there in Indianapolis?

She looked scary as hell. It was a dream. I shake it away, trying to clear my head as I stretch my aching back. I fell asleep sitting in Cole’s chair, slumped over the mattress. My legs tingle as I stand and reach for Georgia. “I don’t think he’s dead.” “Well, that’s good,” she whispers, reaching to poke him in the ribs just to be sure. I grab her hand. “Don’t. His back, see?” I point to the scars covering every inch of his skin.

His mind was getting cloudy! “Are you guys ready?” Georgia was still processing the reality–she couldn’t respond. Only Primo did–though he couldn’t really tell if he was ready or not.

Chapter 39 - Awaken: I Should Be Dead! Harrion Bergmont strode through the corridors to the palace’s medical facility, his footsteps echoing ominously against the cold, marble floors. The days had turned into weeks, and now weeks into months, yet Georgia remained unconscious. What was supposed to be a simple injury — a slashed wrist and forearms — did not justify this prolonged state of unconsciousness. The longer she remained unresponsive, the more suspicious he became.

What was going on? “I suppose I should let the two of you get some rest,” Georgia said, taking back the miniature portrait. “Sleep well young ones and I will visit some more with you in the morning.” Georgia left the room, shutting the door behind her. Emmie remained silent as she thought over everything Georgia had told her. This was so much to take in. This was her mother, for heaven’s sake, and her mother was still alive! * * * * Something was wrong! Gabe had been studying Emiline since the older woman handed her the picture. Being hungry had nothing to do with what ailed her now.

As the truck pulled up in front of Georgia's house, the dr. jenkins wished me the best of luck in our fight against Dr. Ingres and his evil plans. I stepped out of the truck, holding Georgia over my shoulder, who had fallen asleep and hasn't woken up yet.

Jax's disbelief transformed into sheer joy as he rushed to embrace his long-lost friend. "George, you're alive!" Jax exclaimed, his voice filled with a mix of relief and astonishment. Instantly, George's focus turned to the disarray that surrounded us, his tone demanding answers. "What has happened here? Hallie, why are you here? What on earth is going on? Our entire pack lies in ruins!" George's voice reverberated through the air, commanding attention. I took a moment to collect my thoughts, grateful for George's unexpected arrival. It was a stroke of luck that he had returned just in time to witness the chaos that had befallen us.
