“Chiamaka just told me he survived, but he’s in critical condition at the hospital.”
Sarah folded her arms slowly, absorbing the news.
“That’s terrible,” she said quietly. “Do they know who did it?”
“Not yet,” Magnus replied. “The police are investigating, but it’s obvious something serious is going on.”
He walked toward the window and looked outside for a moment, his jaw tightening.
“I’ll have to go back,” he said eventually. “I can’t handle this from here.”
Sarah watched him, already knowing what he meant even before he said it.
