The One
Her eyes are starlight and steel, fixed on me like they already know the outcome of this battle and will not allow me to lose it.
The darkness rears around her, growing thicker, snarling as if it senses the threat of her presence. It becomes physical, shadows whipping around her in a frenzy, but never quite touching her light. The whispers become louder, harsher.
“She cannot save you.”
“You are alone.”
“You are nothing.”
They are no longer whispers, but roars, like a strong wind bent on destroying everything in its path.
“This is not real, child,” Seraphira says, and her voice is not cruel or coddling, but full of clarity. “You are stronger than this. They only win if you let them.”
