The door hissed open. Inside, the vault pulsed like a heartbeat. And there it was, on a pedestal of scorched stone…a book bound in dark leather, etched with fire-glyphs that moved like liquid under her gaze. As she stepped forward, her hand brushed the surface—and the book opened on its own.

Katarina POV - Inside the Bookstore "Kat, you've been staring at that same page for twenty minutes." Selena's voice barely registered. I was lost somewhere else. The bookstore was quiet. Madame had left hours ago, leaving just me and Selena to close up for the night. I sat behind the counter with a book open in my lap—one of those dark, filthy romance novels we kept hidden in the back section. The kind with a half-naked man on the cover that would get us fired if Madame caught us reading them.

I informed her. Unsurprisingly I'm the only one here and that's exactly how I loved it. I walked to the table to the far corner. It was isolated and could hardly be noticable. I set my bag on the wooden table and strided over to one of the shelves. After searching for the book for a good ten minutes I had finally spotted it. I walked back over to the desk with the book in hand and sat down on the wooden bench. It felt like an eternity as I flip through pages. The library is so quiet that I wouldn't be surprised if the librarian had gone home. I was sure that I was the only one in the school right now and the security.

A weathered bookshelf sagged under the weight of abandoned novels, their pages yellowed and brittle with age. "Hello? Is anyone here?" she called out, her voice echoing through the hollow emptiness. Silence greeted her, amplifying the sense of isolation that hung heavy in the air. Undeterred, Anna made her way toward the front door, her hand trembling as she reached for the handle.

"Remain back. That might be a trap. However, the room trembled fiercely as he grabbed for the book. Another voice screamed through the room, a new voice.

She dug her fingers between the pages, trying desperately to get it open, but it wouldn’t move. “Stupid book.” “Uh, guys?” Isaac called, sounding panicked and a bit surprised.
