“Nothing. Just… an interesting choice.” I looked down at the book, confused. Then my eyes went wide. On the cover was a man with no shirt and big muscles. A woman was pressed close to him. Their lips were touching. The big, bold title read: “Desire’s Embrace.” My face turned red all at once. I had bought… a romance novel.

Stepped back folding his arms. "Marcus just brought it from the room where they bind books, " Julian said in a respectful voice. "It is the first real copy of the book with a hard cover." Elena's breath caught in her throat as she unwrapped the paper. Inside she found a beautiful book. The cover was made of a material that felt like old paper. On the front of the book it said "Nora Vale" in a way that made it look nice. She picked up the book. I felt how heavy it was. For a time she had been writing stories that just went away on the internet. People would read them. Then forget.. Holding this book made her feel like her stories were real and would last.

It's a novel, one that isn't part of her literature class and the title- 'One night with the playboy' "A night with the casa nova?! Seriously?" She jolted but quickly recovered and looked at me with a shy smile as she closed the novel, bookmarking it with her pen. God! Whatever that story is about clearly isn't age appropriate and what sort of story cover is that? Shouldn't stuff like that be censored? More importantly, how on earth did she get those sneaky little hands of hers on that? I did see a familiar signature on the left top side but where have I seen it before?... oh, now I remember, it's Lisa's.

I can’t believe what I'm seeing right now. "Fuck, it's already released?" I asked in disbelief. I could not stop my hands from taking a copy of my book. The cover of this book is very familiar to me, it was me and Zie but our faces are cut, Zie's naked body is the only thing I love about the cover as if he's compelling you to grab the book and buy it. "Yes, it was distributed the other day at different national bookstores," Zie informs me. I stared at my book again, it's really beautiful, the cover was hardbound so it seemed like it was just like the international books that were released.

The book has a black leather cover and on the center of the cover, there is a glass bulging bubble that's filled with some kind of red liquid. Please don't be blood. I bend to pick up the book and stumble back a bit. It's heavy and I lug it into the room kicking the door shut with the back of my heel before moving to sit down on my bed. "Who left you at my door." I openly think as I read over the cover. Elgadah Furrucci presents. Advanced Spells and Enchantments. English translation. The words are printed in italics across the cover. I run my hand over the cover and I can feel the light layer of dust on it. My hand stops at the glass bubble and I avoid touching that part.

Dear Reader Thank you for reading the first chapter of the book called, Hot Under Cover. Hot Undercover was originally written as an Interactive Story Game. I am in the process of adapting it into a novel form. The original version contains a great deal of dialogue to fit the platform for which it was intended. Though you can enjoy the story in its interactive format too as currently published. (eg when Aaron speaks, the format will be as this: Aaron ~ "Devan, I think we are damn lost.")

But when she pulled it free, her breath stopped. The book was unlike anything she had ever seen. Its cover was bound in leather so dark it seemed almost black, though in the right light it shimmered faintly with hues of deep crimson. Strange symbols—curved, jagged, and foreign—were etched into its surface, pressed deep into the hide like scars. No title marked its spine. A lock, thin and ancient-looking, sealed its pages.

he growled and out of nowhere Lilith was in front of me with another book in her hands. It was another big book, its cover was not normal, you can tell it by single glance that it was not written in this era. The pages were golden yellow and the cover was made of skin. Books before sixteenth century were used to have animal skin as their covers. Damien took the book from her hand and started flipping pages. The smell of old book hits my nostrils and it only confirmed my suspicions. He stopped after flipping twenty or so pages and turned the book towards me. There was a sketch, a drawing of a necklace on the right side of the book.

But hope, like magic, has a price, and I am increasingly aware of that price. The book itself is a work of macabre art. The cover, made of dark leather that almost appears black, pulses with a life of its own, as if it were breathing. The leather is stained with deep shades of red, almost as though it has been soaked in blood over the centuries, giving it a sinister and throbbing appearance. Along the edges of the cover, aged silver chains are interwoven in complex patterns, depicting ancient runes and seals of protection, symbols only an enchantress could decipher. The title of the book is carved into the leather in rustic letters, subtly glinting with ruby, as though the words had been wri
