It was the food I packed for her: hard cornbread and water. There was enough for her trip. I stood up and gave her one last look.

For a moment, she seemed to see Isabella's face superimposed in front of her eyes. She couldn't stand the stimulation and screamed. Grace grabbed her hair and pressed her against the wall, "Nothing is impossible. God gave me a chance to live again so that I could see how miserable you people are! Thank you very much. God looks at the heart… not the outfit, not the mistakes, not the rumors.” My eyes darted down to my bare knees. Did he know I felt out of place? Did he mean that… for me? For an hour and a half, I listened.

Just a Bible, a smile, and a heart finally open. And she sat in the front row, beaming at him. “I once was lost,” he said, his voice steady, “not because I didn’t know God—but because I didn’t know how to forgive myself. I carried shame like it was my shadow. But someone reminded me that grace doesn’t run out when you fall. Grace waits.” A woman in the back wiped a tear. “That’s all God ever wanted—from any of us. To stop hiding. To come back home.” ---

I can't believe my ears, the earth was dancing beneath my feet and I can't believe what my ears listened to.
