I looked down at the trophy in my hands before raising my eyes again. "First, I want to thank God." My voice softened. "There was a time when I thought some doors in my life had closed forever. There was a time when I questioned myself, my choices, and my future." The hall remained silent. "But God gave me another chance." My eyes began to sting again. "He gave me the opportunity to start over when I thought everything was finished." I paused briefly. "And for that, I will always be grateful." Applause filled the hall.

Kind of felt like I owed him one now. Grace began humming along to a song on playing in the car. At first, I didn't recognize the song but as the chorus hit, I realized that it was Unstoppable by Sia. The song suited Grace. She truly was unstoppable. Through all the bad shit that seemed to happen to her, she still found a way to raise from it all, like a Phoenix rising from it's ashes.

I thought hard work would get me over it. Then, I realized she never wanted me to. To her, I was just a rock she stepped on to escape a deep pit. Once stepped on, I was meant to be kicked aside. I put the cloth bundle I always carried on the table and slid it to her. "What's this?" She scrunched her face, looking disgusted. "Food…for the road."
