Dylan frowned "They've decided on a date..." After hours of endless arguing, the elders finally agreed. "The duel will happen in three days," Elder Marcus announced. "Three days," I murmured. "What's wrong? You look like you're ready to shit on yourself. Are you scared?" Audrey laughed, but I didn't answer. "Good, you should be. I can't wait to rip out your flesh from your bones with my bare fingers." "Enough. Audrey, we need to go now." "Alpha," Lael said as he walked towards Audrey alongside their warriors.

I checked my phone to find 5 am, an hour or so before I was going to see the sun. It was a weekend so there was nothing to stress for anyways. As I checked my phone, I found a text from Damian. ‘The duel will commence the day after the school year ends.’ That was only a week and a day from now. I took slower breaths to calm myself down before looking at the text again. Merely a week from now, I was going to fight against that older man. A fight which was going to define my place in there and the future of Sierra and Damian's plans. I had to be careful and even more, stronger.

"This ends tonight, Augustus." He chuckled, the sound echoing through the clearing. "It's just beginning, Nate." As the moon took its place in the night sky, the pack's anticipation reached a fever pitch. The time for words had passed; the duel would speak for itself. "Let the duel commence!" declared one of the pack's elders, her voice carrying authority. Augustus lunged forward, and I met his aggression with calculated precision. Our clashes echoed through the clearing, the sounds of growls and grunts reverberating in the night air.

Zane drawled lazily, glancing between me and Evan. My heart slammed against my chest as I heard that, wondering why it had to be that of all others. I'd read about it in the handbook. It was a complete disaster. It was usually like this: they gave one of us an item to hold depending on who rolled the highest number of dice while the opponent had to challenge them for it. Obviously, the person with the item would have more advantage because we only had five minutes to duel. If they still held on to it at the end of the five minutes, they won.

I replied. "You don't have enough time left. Probably less than a month. Are you ready to face the dragon?" Head Magus asked seriously. "Is anyone ever ready to face the dragon?" I asked back and the Head Magus sighed. "We still have some time. Let's think some more about other ways we can defeat the dragon." Xander said. "Head Magus, excuse me. He pushed at my shoulders, the consistent movement pushing the drowsiness off me. I tried to sit up, but my head felt like it was filled with lead. My tongue was thick, and my throat was parched. "What... what time is it?" I croaked. "It’s nearly dusk, Kael! You’ve been out for twelve fucking hours," Drew shouted, grabbing my shoulders and shaking me. Twelve hours? That’s…how did it take that long? "The duel starts in less than thirty minutes. Silas and the elders are already at the field. The entire pack is waiting. They think you’ve tucked tail and run!"

I mumbled in a low voice, "When is the duel scheduled?" Luke answered me with a hint of excitement in his voice, "At 8 pm sharp." Noticing my unrest, he waved his hand in the air, "Don't worry, Delilah. We all know that Xander is going to win." I wish I could tell him that that's not what I was worried about. But it was useless to talk to them on this matter. Xee and Luke excused themselves to look over the so-called preparations for tonight. That left me and Adeline behind.
