She thought about standing at the edge of the dance floor, turning in a slow circle, her senses pointed like a needle toward something she could not find. "In a direction," she said quietly. "It was pointed somewhere. I just couldn't find what it was pointing at." The line went silent. "What time did it happen?" Rosalind asked. "Close to midnight. Maybe a few minutes before." "And it hasn't happened again." "No. But my wolf hasn't gone back to how it was, either. It's quiet, but it's a different quiet now. I don't have a better word for it than that." "All right." A breath at the other end of the line. "Take it easy this week. Eat properly, sleep properly. If anything like that happens again

He smiled, “Will do, love. You take your nap. I’ll be right here with you.” I kicked off my shoes and sighed as I was able to lay down and let the stress of the day just roll off of me in waves. It felt so good, I was out cold in seconds. It seemed like I had just gotten to sleep when my mate was waking me, “Izzy, the elders are an hour away. You need to get ready.” I sat up and asked, “How long was I asleep?” He chuckled, “Two hours.” I gasped, “It felt like I had just laid down!”

With Izzy not here to act as a buffer, I excuse myself and go for a wander. Izzy ran inside excited about something, and I’m curious what that something might be. She told me that marked animais can see into each other’s eyes, but I’m not quite sure how to do that, and I can tell how much she wants to surprise me, so I’ll let her.

Kitanna spat and stormed out. Almira placed the fish carefully on her plate, then dropped them on the kitchen island. She glanced at the door and scoffed, “so dramatic”. She pulled a stool, ready to devour her meal, when someone snatched the plate and threw the fish on the floor. Almira's eyes darkened as Kimorra stomped on it, crushing every one of them with her feet. "My bad! Was that your breakfast?” Kimorra taunted. Almira's sea foam eyes were now completely dark with rage.

It was nearly midnight at the World Beyond, and they were waiting for the moon. They waited by the window because it had a clear view of the sky. "What I'm worried about," said Vasilisa, "is the open mirror. For every moment we wait that means any magical beasts or evil mags can cross to the mortal world. We are running out of time."

I could see a level of understanding cross the faces before me. “I was hidden away when my village was burned to the ground and sent out to the human world for protection. I only discovered my true identity a few days ago and yesterday I learned an even greater truth.” I had to stop once again to collect myself. I knew I had to show strength but the truth was I still hadn’t completely accepted everything I learned yesterday.
