Jax's POV The letter arrived at dawn. I knew what it was before I opened it. The seal was different from Ronan's. This one bore the mark of the Regional Pack Council. Dark red wax pressed with the image of a tree whose roots spread across the entire stamp. I stood at the table for a long time, just looking at it.

Grace looked at him. "Yes." "I kept his final documents hidden." Emma's breathing quickened. "Documents?" Grace opened a leather briefcase. Inside were several old files tied together with a blue ribbon. She carefully removed one envelope. Across the front, written in familiar handwriting, were the words: Property of Emma Parker. Emma's hands trembled. "Another letter?" Grace nodded. "No." "This is your father's journal." Silence. "My father kept a journal?" "Every meeting." "Every threat."

“I have a watch and I can tell the time. Now can you please begin with this meeting so that everyone can get back to their jobs?” Cassie could have sworn that the vein in the man’s head almost burst as he regarded Felix with the utmost contempt. If all else went wrong that day, at least she had learned the identity of Mr. Luther Hart, the other man she had noticed had a name sign on his door as Felix did. And it seemed Mr. Hart and Mr. Callahan had an enmity. “Why are you late?” Felix asked without turning to face her.

Jack inspected it, Alissa thought he was struggling to see it, he ran a finger over where she pointed. “No?” “Look harder!” she insisted, “Just next to the last letter!” He looked closer, “Oh that one?” he landed his finger at the right spot. “Yeah! And...” Alissa looked over the many plaques, “Oh this one!” Pointing to 'Harold Black', she pointed to a number of others until the final one 'Luca Wuffaman'. There were approximately eighty names with a small hole next to them. Jack scratched his chin. “How have I not noticed this before?”

"I'm pleased to inform you that Mr. Hartmann has agreed to meet with you personally." My eyes widen. "Really?" "He was impressed." The man buttons his jacket, looking pleased. "And after hearing your proposal... he changed his mind." I stare at him, stunned. "But... he left." "He did." He slides an elegant black business card across the table. "Tonight. Nine o'clock. The same suite." No way. His smile turns more serious. "And Ms. Gregory... Mr. Hartmann values punctuality." A tiny, knowing smile touches his lips. "Don't be late."

Annie Halden has a habit of writing letters to herself everyday. She likes to jot down her thoughts and feelings. It's her way of letting her emotions out, simply for herself, nobody else to see or read. She was embarrassed by it because she thought the idea was pathetic but it helped her. "You're writing, like usual." Jack, her older brother said. He walked into the library to see her sitting by herself—as always.
