Jack sighed shortly, then crouched down. With quick movements, he pulled something from under an old wooden board leaning against the wall — a thin wire with a curved tip already shaped. Without a word, he approached the worn-out door. The paint was peeling, the hinges rusty, but the key lock was still tightly installed. Jack slipped the wire into the keyhole, his face now fully serious.

Not at the Mech, but at the exposed hydraulic line on the Mech's knee joint. But it wasn't just a PVC pipe. Inside, Jack had hidden the firing pin Olivia had traded to the Tinker. He had jammed it into the plastic, turning the tip into a hardened tungsten spike. The spike pierced the hydraulic line. High-pressure fluid sprayed out, blinding the pilot's sensors. The Mech stumbled, its leg locking up.

“Oh, right…” Keith grins, pulls out the tire, and tosses it onto the ground. It bounces, but he uses his foot to settle it down, and then rolls it over beside the flat and lays it down beside it. Then, he comes back to the trunk and fishes something else out that I’m proud enough to know is a jack and goes back to the front of the car. He gets down on his knees and peers underneath like he’s looking for something. Once he’s found it, he slides the jack under and attaches a long metal handle. Jack pulled a jar out of his jacket and walked to the dead Alpha. His legs lay at odd angles and a pool of blood spread out from the head wound. Jack held the jar in front of him and studied it. The lid of the jar was thick and heavy with small little circuit boards covering it. He pressed the button on the lid and it started to hum. He set it gently between the torso and arm of the dead hybrid, hiding it as best he could without covering the top.

Jack drove out at insane speed, breaking the speed limit. He manuvered past the many cars that plied the room as the covered the distance from in office to Karen's house in few minutes. He parked his car carelessly in her entrance and jumped out. Her car was still parked in the garage so he walked to the door, trying to pull it open. After trying twice, he realized it was locked from the inside. He cussed as he stared at the door, slowly running out of options. He moved backwards and slammed his shoulder on the door and still, it remained unmoved.
