Jake had a close call when the monster got him by the shoulders after leaping towards him, tearing his sweater and almost getting his skin. He jabbed the monster with the mystical book, sending it falling over to the other side behind him and Jake also fell. The monster was squealing way louder this time and it looked like the book had actually hurt it.

“He came here a few nights ago and told me he saw a monster here.” Monster? “There is no monster here,” Halsey assures her. “I’ve been coming to this trench for years and I never saw any. It’s safe.” Jo pouts. She was hoping to meet the monster and tell her to stop scaring her dad. She even had a small stick with her to fight the monster if needed. But she’s glad she found the pretty lady instead. “You’re pretty!” She blurts out, making Halsey blush and laugh. “I think you’re prettier!” Halsey snickers. Jo also blushes hard, lowering her face to hide her embarrassment.

Behind him, two girls were giggling as they helped him carry more stuff in. "Ladies, ladies. You're too kind." He winked at them. "But I can handle it from here." They left, still giggling, he whistled at their backsides as they left, and then he turned to us. "Roommates! Excellent."
