Jace stopped mid-step, his shoulders stiffening as he turned, his eyes locking onto Blackwood’s. The older man stood with his usual dark presence, tall with broad shoulders and a wicked smirk.
“I’m not your son, you monster,” Jace snapped, his voice sharp enough to carry his disdain.
Blackwood laughed, not a loud one, but it passed through the space with unsettling confidence. “Oh, but I joined in raising you. That alone makes me a father in ways you’ll never understand.”
