Nica’s POV I spent my entire day with the gentleman. We had gotten along really well, and I was about to make him agree to my plan of taking Carlos away from Rebecca. “So, what do you say about what I have said? Is it a yes, Jacob?” I asked him. He had told me earlier that his name was Jacob, and it stuck in my head right away.

Selina stood up and rubbed her arms which was hurting. “I… I am sorry, I got distracted…” Selina apologized. If it was any other day then Jacob would explode on her but today, when his sister's name escaped his lips making him feel low, he didn’t say much and in a solemn voice announced, "Training is done for today." Walking a few steps Jacob remembered something. He turned around and asked "Selina, do you know what day is today?" Shaking her head right to left, Selina responded, "No.."

Diana dosen't know Lucas and I had ticked Jacob on our list of murder, but she just seem to dislike him much. "Did you and Jacob ever have a thing together?" I tease her and her eyes widen as she shakes her head vigorously from side to side. "Of course not! He's just so annoying. I mean look at him!" She scoffs but I keep winking at her. We all watch Jacob walk to us, a drink in his hand and a smile on his face. "Good to see you all here. Again, I knew I'd see you all here" he brags and Diana scoffs. "Hello Danny" he calls her out and I snicker at the nickname.

I gave her a small nod. “Thank you,” she said, taking it. “You’re welcome. I’m Jake. What’s your name?” “My name is Daisy,” she said with a shy smile. Jake grinned. “Okay. My daddy said I can be your friend because I don’t have friends.” I looked past him to his father, who was walking toward us. My brows furrowed. “What’s going on?” The man reached for my suitcase. “I’ll help you with this.” I pulled it back sharply. “I can handle my own luggage. Stop trying to be a nuisance.”

In them, Hank faked his demise, absconding with our fortune and dooming the company to bankruptcy. Elena and I endured collector torment. Sighing, Jacob stopped pacing and leaned against the desk, his features constricted in deep thoughts. “It’s not as easy as it sounds, Damon,” he mumbled, lightly flicking his thumb across his bottom lip. “I suspect this whole thing is bigger than it seems, right now. For them to have daringly gone against our orders,” he looked up at me, “you have to understand what I mean.” I couldn’t deny that he was right, but that didn’t mean I wasn’t more than determined to find this anonymous broadcaster boss and his fucking management team. “Here’s what’s going to happen,” I said, clinking the ice cubes around in the glass, “we invade the—“

Now I would make mine. I fumbled for the pack in my pocket and pulled out a cigarette. My hands shook so much I nearly dropped the lighter. I sparked the flame and inhaled, the smoke filling my lungs. It was the only thing keeping me from screaming again. Behind me, the door creaked open. I didn't turn around. I knew the heavy, confident stride. Jacob stepped onto the balcony, looking like a Greek god in a tailored suit that barely contained his frame. His hair was perfectly slicked back, and his shirt was unbuttoned just enough to show he didn't care about the gala's dress code.
