“Please forgive my master, Your Majesty… He is bedridden from grief. He truly can't meet you… All my master asks for is that you give his daughter justice and… let her death not be in vain…” James stood in front of the tightly shut doors for a long time without saying a word. It was not that Jonathan Eaves could not meet him. He simply did not want to. The old minister was using this method to tell him that the relationship between king and vassal had cracked. On the way back to the palace, James sat in his carriage and looked at the drifting snow outside. Suddenly, he recalled the image of Lynette kneeling in the snow. He remembered her pale face and purple lips.

“James is using you. He’ll throw you aside the moment you’re no longer useful.” Joana’s jaw tightened, but she didn’t respond. James smirked, clearly enjoying the exchange. “You’re wasting your breath, Pamela,” he said. “Joana knows her place. She understands loyalty.” Rowan’s voice cut through the tension like a knife. “Loyalty? Is that what you call this? Manipulating people, tearing families apart? You’re nothing but a coward, James.” James’s smirk faltered, his eyes narrowing. He stepped closer to Rowan, towering over him. “You’ve always been so self-righteous, haven’t you? Always so sure you’re better than me. But look where that’s gotten you—bound and powerless.”

Jonah then slowly got to his feet adjusting the collar on his sleeves as he looked at James. “All I am saying is only a foolish man would steal someone's most prized possession and not expect them to come after it. Regardless of how the person may appear.” Jonah said quietly, his voice was so soft it was chilling. “Yeah well- “James, do not make me regret joining forces with you. Keep in touch. If Arkyn moves I want to know. It would be in your best interest as well. Seeing how men are known to face armies alone…and win.” Jonah said, turning and heading to the door.

James shouted, shaking his fist in the air. "You won't tell me what to do father, I won't stay here and listen to this crap" Eyre stood up from his chair. "Eyre, I'm ordering you right now, you'll do it" James said heavily. "You're ordering me to break Connor's orders and betray him!" Eyre shouted. "Lower your voice boy, remember who you're talking to here, you might be the prince of Myths and that bastard's aide, but I'm the king of Myths, and you'll do what I tell you to!" James said.

Pain was written clearly in his eyes as he said, “I always thought Caleb had himself forced on you while David seduced you. But when I saw the way you were with them…” It turned out that James was already there when I held hands with Caleb. I fell silent. I did not know how to explain my relationship with Caleb and David to him. James paused for a moment before saying, “Why is it that you can love them but can’t try to love me?” His voice was so sorrowful that I quickly comforted him. “I love you too.” James’s eyes instantly lit up. He looked as if his whole being had come alive with radiance.

I set the cake down on the table, then looked at him. “What did you wish for?” For a moment, James stayed silent, his eyes glancing down before tenderly placing his hand on my belly. “I wished…” He paused, his gaze lifting to meet mine, filled with sincerity. “I wished for God to bless us with another little angel.” I couldn’t help but smile knowingly. “You think He hasn’t already granted your wish?” James blinked in confusion, his brain scrambling to catch up with my words. When the realization struck, his eyes grew wide. “No way! Are you serious?”

"Haha, you know nothing." James's eyes showed a depth of wisdom. He grabbed his own wine glass and poured some for himself. He then sat on the sofa, crossed his legs, and said, "Lana is a very cold woman. Approaching her is no easy task. She’s already giving me face by accepting the God of War mansion I gave her. Moreover, I don't know what a woman like her desires! I can't find out how to help her!"

"Don't you guys hear it? It's calling my name!" Gawin and Praewa walked over to James. "James, what's wrong? What are you hearing?" Gawin asked with concern. "The whispers... they're saying... 'Come... come with us...'" James replied, his voice shaking. His body trembled uncontrollably. "It's telling me... 'You are one of us...'" James's eyes began to turn red, and his veins bulged on his pale skin. His body started to show signs of dehydration. He looked paranoid and kept glancing at the tanks, as if something were following him. "I'm not kidding... it's coming for me..."

Always thinking, always calculating the next move. From across the room, I see James standing close to Sophie, his arm draped casually around her shoulders as they chat with Ali, Gamma Anne. James has always had this effortless charm about him, able to slip between king and husband like it's nothing. It’s a rare gift, and one I admire. His ease makes me wonder when I’ll ever find that same balance between duty and family, especially with everything going on. Right now, it feels like I'm drowning in responsibilities, and as much as Ali tries to help, I know she sees the weight on my shoulders.
