lisa replied folding her arms in front of her determined not to make this easy for them. “As you wish.” He replied. “This is James, the High King’s personal Magi and you’ve met High Prince Phillip already…” Lisa kept her eyes firmly on James who was unashamedly examining her from from under his slightly wonky glasses. She was determined not even to glance in High Prince phillip’s direction even though she could feel his eyes boring into her, watching her every move like she was about to do something he’d need to react to. “You are welcome here Fate.” James said with a tilt of his head. “You have had a long journey and one not without danger.”

Portia was standing in the doorway, watching everything with great interest. James smiled, ignoring the previous situation. -Well, are you ready?

I straightened and let my aura recede just enough for everyone to breathe again. “The King’s decree stands,” I said evenly. “Disrespecting the Saint is disrespecting the throne.” No one argued. James stayed on his knees, fists clenched, jaw tight. I could tell his words were cryptic, but I didn’t know why Theo seemed to be confused. “James will be fine.” He said waiving his hand in the air. “How are you adjusting to having a wolf?” He asked intrusively.

“Jesus, James. What the hell kind of question is that?” “A simple one,” James responded with an even calmer expression, his voice shockingly even. He took another casual sip of his beer, as if they were still discussing football. “The women aren’t here. You can say the truth. There’s nothing wrong if the thought ever crossed your mind. It’s natural.”
