I trail off.
James exhales sharply, pacing again.
“She might’ve left,” he says, his voice strained.
“No,” I say firmly. “She can’t. She wouldn’t. Not without her son.”
James stops, turning to face me, his eyes blazing. “Her son?”
“Yes,” I say. “Edward. She’d never leave without him.”
James’ face contorts with anger, his voice rising. “You used her,” he growls, stepping closer to me. “You used my daughter in your twisted vendetta. You put her in danger!”
