Heather turned to see Whitney's smiling face, and an odd sense of unease crept into her heart. She steadied herself and asked, "What is it?"
"Who is this?" someone nearby asked.
"Oh, this is my younger daughter," Thomas said, looking at Whitney. "You should rest, Whitney. Don't overdo it."
"Of course, Dad," Whitney replied.
With a grin, she leaned in closer to Heather and whispered, "Hattie, you look a little tipsy. Why don't you take a break? I'll have someone make soup for you. You don't want to get too drunk."
