Her rainbow eyes revealed mischief but she exhaled in relief and took a look at the remaining green bottle in her hand before whispering some words and materializing. Jane took an evening bath and got herself ready to meet her mysterious husband. She had received a call from Mister Paul earlier reminding her not to be late. She took a cab and went to Old Madam Ryan's mansion. It seemed like everyone around was already aware of her new status as she was being referred to as Young Madam. She got to the sitting room and met the Matriarch seated on a huge chair with a magazine in her hands. She was flipping the pages when she noticed Jane walking in timidly. She beamed at her.

A young girl was peeping out from the mansion’s window with a black mark on her left hand. She was watching the full moon. The moonlight was illuminating her ivory skin. To say that Si-ri is beautiful would be an understatement. She had a sculpted figure which was twine-thin. A pair of arched and dark eyebrows and sweeping eyelashes. Delicate ears and a button nose. Her feather-like raven hair swept down. Her enticing, constellation-hazel eyes and her crimson red lips. It was a pleasure to see her and it wouldn’t be wrong to say, just a glance at her face can compel an atheist to believe in god.

Kerry stood over Jane as she turned the page in her history book, casting a shadow over the pages. She cleared her throat and glanced up at him. "Do you mind? You're blocking my light." He stood back and pulled out the chair next to her, glancing around the library as if he may see the lycan. Jane read over her chapter, trying her hardest to block out the eyes over her shoulder. She felt like she sat underneath a microscope with eyes judging her. She knew that wasn't true. Kerry seemed like a nice guy, but it made Jane feel scrutinized.

The other one stopped and snarled some kind of response. Jane was running blindly, but she knew that the man behind her would easily catch her. So she ducked behind a dumpster, reached down, and grabbed a board from an abandoned shipping crate, raising it to shoulder level. She barely heard the footsteps, but she stepped out and swung with all her might at head level. The board impacted the man's . . . the thing's head, smashing its sunglasses and causing him to drop his knife. Then Jane saw those glowing red eyes, and she felt terror, unlike anything she had ever experienced.

Jessica stared at the blank page. Outside the windows rain had started falling again. Softly. Quietly. Students moved outside beneath umbrellas. The world kept moving. Jessica looked down at the paper. Then finally touched pencil to the page. One line. Then another. Then another. Small beginnings. Messy beginnings. But beginnings all the same. And somewhere deep inside Jessica Jane... another tiny crack had appeared in the walls she'd spent years building.

The careful blankness of a face that had been performing composure for so long the performance had begun to show its seams. Jane said, her voice dropping into a flat, distant tone that carried a sudden, chilling chill. She picked up her crystal glass, swirling the amber liquid inside with a slow, hypnotic rhythm before draining it completely. "Do you honestly think you are the first woman to try and trap a Hudson man with a crisis?" Jane stared out over the dark, sweeping expanse of the manicured gardens, her aristocratic features hardening into a mask of pure, unadulterated bitterness.

"Forgive me, Elder Yoris. I just thought you looked so... radiant in this one. I couldn't help myself." "That was taken during my residency in Zurich," Jane snapped, her voice tight. "I don't care for others handling my personal effects." "I understand. I’m truly sorry. Please, don't let a foolish old woman ruin your morning." Seeing Elaine’s pathetic submission, Jane’s irritation cooled into a simmering condescension. She set the photo back with a sharp clack. "Tell me," Elaine continued, her voice soft and probing, "did you cross the sea alone? Did you find any... kin over there? Any friends who felt like home?"

I’ve lived my life, protecting myself from the world, from disappointment, betrayal and lies, but with her, I began to bring down those walls until I didn’t even know when my feelings developed into so much more without even seeing a glimpse of her. I skim over her collection, Motorcycle Club, Mafia... Disney Villain tales… and then there are the classics that she accidentally slipped out that she reads before denying she read them. I crouch down. They may be at the bottom, but the books have been read and I can’t help but smile. The room seemed to shrink the moment Jane stepped in. Mrs. Moretti’s face was drained of all colors. Her hands fumbled against the wall for support as if the ground beneath her feet was collapsing. “N-no… this is not possible,” she stuttered, her breath coming out in sharp, uneven gasps. Jane’s eyes were like burning coals—raw, unflinching, merciless. “You thought you buried me, didn’t you?” she hissed. “You sent your dogs after me and my mother because of your jealousy. Because you couldn’t stand the thought of my existence.”
