Jane’s POV I felt like if I blinked for one second, I would miss it all. It was heat and cold altogether, embracing me. It had to be the waves and the cold it carried. I wrapped my hand around my frame, wishing I hadn’t listened to Laura and her choice of clothing. Wishing I hadn’t come here at all. Because, deep down, I knew all it took was one wrong move. He smirked, a cruel, knowing twist of his lips. Then he moved. His arm swung. Claws, long and black, extended from his fingers. The movement was too fast to follow. All we heard was a wet, slicing sound. Jane’s head left her shoulders. For a second, her body stayed standing. Then it crumpled. Her head hit the stone floor with a sickening thud and rolled, once, twice, coming to a stop just a few feet from where we stood. Her eyes were still open, filled with horror.
