I thought aloud, thinking how real the dream felt that my heart is still racing. I take more deep breaths to calm my racing heart. I slept late last night; my wolf has been restless since we heard those servants talking. She would not tell me why, but she was causing me one hell of a headache with her pacing. I do not even know when I managed to fall asleep and now this.

He concludes and in a matter of seconds slides of the bed and leaves through the door. I rest my hand on my heart that beats like a beast caged within my ribs. What is this fever?

My heartbeat pounded loudly in my ears, drowning out the quiet stillness of the room. I sank down onto the plush bed, my legs suddenly weak. I drew a shaky breath in an attempt to calm my nerves. My heart pounded furiously against my ribcage, and my thoughts whirred with the intensity of a tempest. His words echoed in my mind, his ominous promise seeping into the corners of my consciousness.

Why is his number unattended for so many hours? My heart starting to pump so fast. I think something is not right.

I watch him sit up on the bed looking at me like I have grown two heads. "Who are you? And….. what are you doing in my bed?" I ask him quickly and stammer a bit. Because of the hangover, my brain is hazy now. I can't collect anything about this guy. But, My heartbeat is fast. Beating ten times faster than its normal speed. I'm feeling like I'm going to get a heart attack soon. Why is it acting like this? What happens to my heart? I watch him shuffle off the bed and walk in my direction.

Damon woke in a sweat, his chest heaving with stuttering gasps and his heart hammering against his ribcage like a frightened bird beating its wings. He could feel his whole body trembling as his eyes darted around the darkness of the room, blindly taking in but not entirely registering the fact that it was night time and he was lying in his bed.

“Nooooo!” Adam jerks awake, sitting up in the bed quickly. Clutching his chest, he wills his racing heart to slow. He tries to steady his breathing but he can not make his body calm down. The dream took its toll on him, as evidenced by the frantic pounding of his heart.

But I failed. Heavy pants escaped my lips as my fatigued lungs threatened to collapse. My heart was beating in a magnitude that dared to rupture my chest cavity to shreds. If that actually happened I might have probably begged God to let me replace my runaway heart with a rock. Seriously, a cardiac malfunction has become rampant these days, I was just trying to not fall into that hole. Bending over as I rested my hands on my knees, I tried to catch my breath and steady the rate of my deafening heartbeats. It seemed to be beating a hundred times per minute instead of the normal pace which is seventy-two.

Flickering fast, so fast that one might presume they are scared or in pain. I can’t tell you how their heart, even though seemingly insignificant to another, causes me such a thrill. Despite having not reached out to talk, I take comfort in their presence. I’m sure it must be one of Damian’s other subjects or maybe a warrior that’s frightened to make the wrong move. Maybe I’ll speak to them tomorrow?… ~~~ Day Six That person, the one with the super-fast heart rate stays around all night and into the next day. The constant thump and whoosh of their blood gave me a life raft to hold onto.

My heart pounded as my eyes roved the room over and over again. How the hell was I going to sleep tonight?
