The shadow was beginning to creep across its surface. "The eclipse will be total in about an hour. If Thaltos is coming, it'll be soon." We waited in tense silence. Minutes crawled past. The eclipse advanced. The clearing grew darker as the moonlight faded.

The Solar Eclipse started that noon. Helena was standing on a small dock at the edge of a frozen lake. She looked into the eclipse's reflection on its surface while reminiscing about her past. "Why are you worrying so much?" Next to her was Eoin Euclase, who was trying to fix her fur coat. The man glanced at her flat but worried face and showed the same level of worry on his. "They're not Destined Mate. So she will be safe," he said.

Stella said, as they stood on the shoreline, pointing their flashlights out over the water. "Sure we gonna find any clue here?" Maxwell asked. "Just look around." Stella replied, already moving to check another part of the shoreline. Maxwell saw shoe trails on the shore and started following them, with a slight frown on his face. Mitari’s eyes were shut tightly, with Musa's palm covering her mouth. Her back was pressed against the pillar and his body pressed close to hers. Maxwell pointed his light toward the pillar. Mitari's eyes flew open, staring at Musa in panic, but he immediately gestured for her to keep quiet.

You were human, Clem.” “That was the solar eclipse,” I explained softly, looking at the three parents in wonder. They all grinned as if they were in on the world’s biggest secret. Liam didn’t look nearly as shocked as I did. I could feel his calmness down the mate bond, and I knew he had suspected we were mates on some level too.
