I said quietly.
"Do you?" Jeremy’s voice rose, the sound bouncing off the corrugated iron walls, expanding through the empty terminal until it sounded like a chorus of accusations. "Because I don't think you remember a damn thing about this place. I think you forgot about the night we sat on that floor, drinking lukewarm beer from a cooler, when you looked me in the eye and told me that no matter how much money this company made, we would never become the kind of sharks who use people as leverage. We would never become the monsters who treat human beings like data points."
He took another step forward, the orange light hitting the raw, unbridled fury etched into his features.
