Ember sniffs the air from my mind once again, and then she says that Jessica’s wolf is in eternal hibernation with a magical barrier around her. ‘Which means?’ ‘She can tap into some aspects of her wolf, but she can’t mindlink with her, or fully shift.’ Ember says, cold amusement in her voice. As I focus back on Jessica her cuts are healing, slowly, sluggishly. She doesn’t seem to care. Then something fires from the trees and I jump to avoid it. Another something fires, and I jump again while Jessica laughs.

She seemed to be full every time the men left. When I took water into Rebecca's room, I noticed her face glowing, and her tummy had grown bigger too. "Everly, come look! The rabbit twitched its nose, its small, quivering body frozen in fear. Slowly, I crouched down and picked it up, cradling it gently in my arms. Its fur was soft beneath my fingers, its tiny heart pounding against my palms. Jace just grunted, rubbing a hand down his face. “All that tension, and it’s just a damn rabbit.”

The only difference between the previous day and today was the fact that they were having a conversation. "Today was really fun. I had no idea anyone could be awesome at playing with the crane machine or beat two people singlehandedly at laser tag" Jessie gushed, blushing as she fondled the doll Jackson has won and given to her. She did not even show her head. “Sum?” Jasper tried to call her, and his heart clenched tightly. He was worried that she might suddenly think things through and stab him in the heart out of hate. Summer did not reply and remained under the blanket. She expressed her disapproval of the situation by squirming deeper under it.
