Kisah dalam novel ini terinspirasi dari cerita nyata yang terjadi sekitar tahun 80'an. Dimana pada saat itu judi Porkas/SDSB sedang marak dan digandrungi masyarakat. Basri (bukan nama sebenarnya) adalah seorang lelaki miskin dan bekerja sebagai buruh serabutan. Memiliki seorang istri dan dua anak dalam kondisi kesulitan perekonomian keluarga, akhirnya terpaksa harus mengambil jalan pintas demi membahagiakan keluarganya. Masa lalu kelam serta didikan orang tua yang keras, membajakan hati laki-laki dalam satu tekad yang bulat. Dia rela melakukan ritual gila demi menggapai kekayaan, yakni membongkar sebuah kuburan.
