Jane I ran to my apartment. It was locked, and the note and keys were still in the box, which meant the brothers did not come as they had promised. I helped myself in and ran straight to my room, shivering with fear. I did not see lizard eyes or dragon scales. I saw live dragons on the roofs, and they did not disappear, they became transparent. It would have been better if my mind had processed them as disappearing that way, I wouldn't think they were still there, but right now, I don't know what to do.

Jasper impatiently paced his room. It was hours since Lila had whispered that Benjamin would be rescuing them that evening and for him to be ready. Ready? He was more than ready. It took several tries over multiple weeks, but they’d managed to subdue all signs of zombie toxin from his blood. They weren’t gone, but at least they were dormant. They’d also enhanced the werewolf in him. This became a true challenge for him when he was forced to work with the volunteers in his research project.

The bitterness in my chest hit its peak. They really didn't want to make things any better for me. When I went back to the living room, I heard Mom trying to call me on the phone. Unsurprisingly, no one picked up. I told Mom in my mind that I was already dead. They wouldn't be unlucky anymore. "That jinx! She won't even pick up the phone! She's definitely hiding something." Mom angrily hung up the phone. "Mom, don't send her food, and don't give her any money. Let her starve for a few days. That's the only way our luck will turn around."

Her wrists got red and she could feel it got hot with the stern grip from the man. "No man's gonna tell me what to do." She snatches the book on his hand. "Leave my house. Now." Jin snaps to reality and immediately apologises. "Flynn, I'm sorry--" "If sorries could conquer the law, it would be illegal." She chuckles bitterly. "So don't be sorry and just leave before I do something we both don't want to happen." Jin did not say anything anymore since he knew he already messed up. He just left the apartment and knocked at his sister's place.

The force of the dive took both Jasmine and the chair over backwards, shattering china and splashing poisoned tea on the way. Keilor’s friends had been even better teachers than Jasmine realized. Without thought, Jasmine’s body braced for the fall even as her legs came up to shove Rhapsody off with surprising force. The white Haunt went flying, and Jasmine just made it to her feet before Rhapsody rushed her again. Forced to act, Jasmine sidestepped and slashed at her with the long knife her symbiont formed, and the Haunt hissed as raw wounds opened across her arm and abdomen, leaving the white gown in tatters. Hammering started at the heavy door.

Let's go, Jack, the girls are waiting,” he said and dragged Jack out of the class. When I felt the quietness of the library, I slowly brought the book down from my head and heaved out a sigh. How would he even notice me when I have chosen to hide myself from him with every chance I get?
