Elliott stood beside her, suit crisp, expression unreadable. Not smiling. Not glowing. Just... there. I paused the screen on his face. Zoomed in. Searched for something. Regret? Sadness? A flicker of hesitation? I found it—but I didn’t know if it was real or just what I wanted to see. There was no mention of love. No fairy tale proposal story. Just a carefully worded statement about “responsibility,” “timing,” and “family unity.” And still, the date was set.

"This is Ellie." -Ellie "Yeah. I know." -Alex My heart started beating faster than usual. "I saw your account details." -Alex "How are you doing?" -Ellie "I'm great. What about you?" -Alex "I'm good." -Ellie "What's up?" -Alex "Ceiling is up ;)" -Ellie "Wasn't that an outdated joke?" -Alex "Oops! Sorry. I didn't update for the latest jokes." -Ellie "Hahaha. Now that's funny."

“I wouldn't say bad or good. It's just - in the middle. You know what I mean. It's still the same thing, but I'm sure there'll be changes anytime soon.” “You see! I told you Liam is good enough.” The door creaked open right at that moment. Cassie and I looked up, expecting her mom, who came in often. But no, it was Noah. “What again, Noah Reed?” Cassie cried. “How many times do I have to tell you the girls need their own time alone?” “Who the hell is Liam, and why are you both talking about a boy?” Cassie glanced at me, holding back a smile, then looked at her brother and asked him. “Aren't we old enough to talk about boys, Noah? Liam is Elle's boyfriend.”

"Yeap. Right, Jay?" By the drums, Jaden makes an 'ok' sign with his fingers. "Just make your voice a little bit deeper, okay?" Ellie says nothing to that. She looks away from her friends and catches the guitarist staring at her. He smiles at her. She does smile back. ______________________ "How was school today, Ellie?" Austin asks, giving Ellie a hug. "Get into any trouble?" "Unfortunately not." Austin chuckles when he hears this. "Touche." "Looks like it's at the corner, anyway."
