I rushed forward instinctively. “Alpha Jaron!” He lost his balance and dropped back into the wheelchair with a sharp exhale, fury flashing across his face. He didn’t look at me at first. Just stared at his legs like they’d betrayed him.

He was in a wheelchair now and was no longer as free as before. Once they left the crowd behind, Chiara pressed her lips together and reassured him, “Don’t worry, Jon. Your legs will heal. Those people who look down on you will come to regret it. I’ll make sure of it.”
