I lunged, blade slicing across his throat, the cut so deep it sprayed dark into the firelight.
Bowman staggered, choking, his eyes wide with disbelief. He fell heavy into the dirt.
Snow stood over him, hands trembling, face pale.
Ryan cried, sobbing against the ropes still around his wrists.
I dropped to my knees, slicing him free. “Ryan, it’s me. You’re safe.”
He collapsed into my arms, shaking. Teeth clattering.
But Snow? Snow just stared at her bloodied hands. Her lips moved soundlessly before she turned, running into the night.
