Ashley wrapped her arms around herself, wishing she could shrink into nothing. The sight of Spider—his body brutalized, displayed like some kind of trophy, burned into her mind. She’d thought the chase on the highway was terrifying, but this… this was worse. This was cruel.
Nolan turned toward Jax. “Get him down.”
Jax’s face twisted, like he wanted to tear the world apart with his bare hands. But he moved forward, ripping the knives out one by one, catching Spider’s body as it fell. He lowered him carefully, like the brutality hadn’t broken the respect.
