There was a hard edge to his words. I would’ve elbowed him for scaring me but now my nerves were out of control. I hadn’t expected him to come here. He plopped down on his seat and I took note of his appearance. He wasn’t shirtless like Josh. No, he was in a white T-shirt that hugged his fit perfectly and shorts that stopped just above his knees. It was the most casual I had ever seen him and he looked so good. My mouth watered at the sight of him.

Josh cracks the door open, “you have those clothes?” As he pokes his head out through the crack in the door he sees me sitting on the bed staring at the door. No clothes have been removed from the closet. Josh shuts the door and wraps a towel around his waist and heads out into the bedroom. Here comes this beautiful man out of my bathroom. Exasperated, I tightened my towel around me and stomped out of my room, down the hall, and into the living area, stopping dead in my tracks when my eyes landed on him. Joshua smirked and finally lifted his head up. His eyes landed on me, and there was some form of awkwardness in the way he stared at me. It was a clear mixture of surprise and confusion. “At some point, I wanted to ask you why you didn’t bother coming with your clothes or probably your stuff, but I got my answer.” I narrowed my eyes. “What answer?” I asked, musing over what he said. “Your old stuff cannot fit into this lifestyle, so there’s no need to bring it. Imagine the wife of The Joshua Henshaw wearing a seven-dollar gown. Preposterous.” He chuckled and tilted his head.

I had always considered myself straight until the beginning of my junior year of high school when I caught a glimpse of my friend Josh shirtless and fell in love. That opened my eyes. He was sitting on the edge of one of the sofas, hunched over with his hands clasped tightly between his knees. He looked like he hadn’t shaved in days, and his shirt was wrinkled. His eyes were darker than I remembered, tired and lost. He looked up the moment I stepped in and tried to smile. “Natasha,” he said, standing quickly. I didn’t respond. My hands stayed at my sides. I didn’t move.
