Dante's POV For a moment, Jem didn’t say a single word. At first, he looked stunned… then like someone who had just heard something unbelievable… and finally, something like disbelief settled on his face. Then suddenly, he chuckled. Softly at first. Then a little harder. And without warning, he burst out laughing completely, like he couldn’t contain it, one hand twitching slightly near his head from the pain he was clearly ignoring. I raised a brow. "And what exactly is so funny?" I asked.

My hands fiddled with the strap of my bag and I swallowed hard, analyzing my words. “Maybe someone is trying to trick you guys out so you wouldn’t be able to play in the tournament.” Jac burst into a dry prolonged laughter and it was irksome cause it made me look so stupid. I glared hard at him and he almost choked on his laughter, he coughed and raised his hands in the air in surrender but I wasn’t going to forgive that. “I’m so sorry I laughed at you.” He said amidst laughter while I pursed my lips and looked straight.

I say, trying to make a joke. Luis stares at me for a second, his face blank, then suddenly bursts out laughing. His laugh is deep and warm, like a sound that could melt chocolate. I can’t help but smile, even though I’m not entirely sure what’s funny. He laughs so much that I think he might have started choking on his own amusement.

Carla shouted, chuckling uncontrollably in response to Tio's remark. Carla can't help but chuckle at Tio's tense demeanor and reactions. She was certain that Tio would panic at any moment, and while it sounded lame to her, she found it amusing. "Stop taunting me, Carla; I'm not going to help you with Colt," Tio hissed as he averted Carla's sight. Tio, on the other hand, was relieved to hear Carla laughing. Carla was stressed and fatigued, so hearing her laugh made him feel better, despite the fact that she was mocking him.

His eyes narrow to slit every time he laughs with little wrinkling lines on each tip of his eyes. Now I usually wouldn't care why he was laughing but that was his signature condescending laughter, the one he used when he belittles someone or tries to break their spirit. Who is his target? Curiosity got the better of me and I'm glad I decided to check because then, I saw Jiro. Neo had Jiro pinned to the wall though the guy didn't look like he gave a fuck. His face was expressionless and his hands carefreely tucked into the pockets of his cargo pants. His bored-to-death expression was getting on Neo's nerves. It was sinisterly obvious.

Then, when they noticed the smirk on Alpha Zackery's face, they looked at each other and roared with laughter hysterically. "Your Excellency... You really nail it! He's a... a grilled hot dog... Haha... I can't... catch my breath..." Alpha Julius pointed at Alpha Cyrus and laughed. "Your Excellency... Your joke is... killing me..." Alpha Cyrus laughed so fiercely that he started to cough in tears. "Really? I thought only malt kills people." Alpha Zackery laughed out loud, with eyes gleaming with ominous sparks.

I offer him a reassuring smile, which only seems to increase his wariness. "Do you know what brand of shoes Talu’s looking for these days?" I wait for a heartbeat and add with a smirk, "The more expensive, the better." My little qualification has Jian throwing his head back with a laugh. It's just barely more than a bark, but the rich, deep sound is lovely. I can’t remember the last time I made someone laugh. I'd forgotten how satisfying something so simple could be.

The kind of laughter that slipped in quietly and stayed longer than either of them would ever say out loud. Joy didn’t suddenly become someone new. She was still calm, still focused, still did everything with her usual care. But now, her sarcasm had more space to show itself. And sometimes, just to make her respond, Juda would pretend to be in significant pain. He 'd clutch his side or groan with overstated flair, simply to see her roll her eyes and discharge that long, exhausted sigh, the one that constantly had a hint of amusement hiding below.He lived for it.
