It was mum that cost him his life and reputation all at once. Jamie was walking with Joy, holding her little finger. Another person whom Joy loved was the same person her beloved father loathed most in this world. Joy had a different sort of affection for her grandfather, mostly, because both of their names began with the letter “J,” which she believed was special. Jamie was also attached to his granddaughter. He even gifted Joy a diamond necklace the first time he met her that she couldn’t use for the next fifteen years. Jamie wasn’t afraid of showering his love on Joy now and then. Even though he was married for the tenth time this fall, he spent more time with Joy than with his new wife.

Elizabeth was grateful for her career, and the fact that karma was coming fast enough these days because gold diggers and cheats were losing. She was speaking about Leila. I know, and I had no doubt more people at the table knew that, too. I was thankful for friends, family, life, and Academics. When it got to Leila’s turn, the room fell silent.
