When he got in the car, Javier noticed a pretty neatly-trimmed Cypress Bonsai tree in the back seat. Cypress Bonsai trees were the most powerful and artistic in their family, which made them the best species. For example, the one that Tanya had was trimmed to make it look like a soaring phoenix. It looked extremely beautiful and was incomparable to a lot of other bonsai trees. Obviously, Tanya had made a lot of effort to take care of this one. However, Javier still thought that it was wasted effort.

There was a circle in the middle of the ceiling of the room that was made out of glass. I felt a slow hum of power and that's when my eyes fell on a small plant that looked like a tree in the very centre of the room. Pure moonlight fell on it mixed with the very first rays of the sun through the glass ceiling and it looked like it was glowing. Tiny white flowers had bloomed on it and I could see even smaller whitish-translucent berries like fruits. It looked very cute. "This is a Bonsai tree. It's a miniature tree that represents peace, harmony and balance." Nik educated. "And from the looks of it, this is exactly the tree that the lady told you to find."

None of them would save me. Suddenly, Judas’s arm encircled my waist, pressing me back against him, his other hand capturing my chin and jerking it forward so I couldn’t look away from the scene before me. His voice was low and menacing, sliding through me like shards of ice. “Look,” he growled darkly. “Watch closely, Fenochka, and see what happens when someone crosses me. Watch as I burn that little fucker to the ground.”

Dressed in an ankle-length, unbuttoned loose black robe that revealed the grey tunic up to the abdomen—which would have exposed more undershirt if it were not for the charcoal sash securing around his waist—Judas's lips quirked up, forming a smile on the square face shape. The pairs of lava hooded eyes fixated on her under the shoulder-length hair as dark as his outer attire. "It is a good thing, though, my princess. We can now talk privately with no disturbance," Judas replied with a big smile as if he considered the glare as a cupid's arrow that shot straight into his heart.

I know guys like him, and they are not the kind I want my little sister getting married to.” “Have you told her what you think about it?” I ask him. He nods. “She said I’ll never like any guy she chooses.” He shrugs. “She is wrong. I quite liked your brother.” I chuckle. Halfway to the gate, Jude leads the way down a cobblestone path branching away from the driveway. We go through a garden lit by cast iron path lights. Everything about this place feels magical. We go onto the grass and Jude stops when we get to a magnolia tree about twenty feet tall. He tilts his head back to look up at the branches. “This one is mine.”

Judas then told Ives to sit on the small mat at the study table and sat on the next side of the table. There were different books, pens and ink on the table which were arranged properly. "How old are you?" Judas asked. "I am 19 but I'll be 20 soon." "Hm okay, then tell me what have you studied about medicine till now." "I have studied basic things like how to prepare medicines for some poisons, deep cuts or wounds caused by wild animals and some minor treatments."

He leaned against the truck bed, eyeing the tree proudly. ‘It’s beautiful.’ Dustin shrugged, trying not to look too pleased. ‘Actually, it’s not even a real fir, but I thought it resembled a Christmas tree.’

Bumble’s fuzz shifted in the breeze, and I saw it again: Black vines. Not real vines. Not yet. Just the memory of them. Coiled faintly under the earth, like smoke trapped under ice. “It’s the tree,” I breathed. “It’s back.” “No,” Johanis said quickly. “This isn’t the same. It’s different. Smaller. Older.” He crouched beside it. I yanked him back. “What are you doing?!” “I wanna see if it’s fresh.” “Why would you want that?!”

As she burst out the back of the house, she prayed this was the right place. It was. There Jesus stood, alone with Judas, in a small, ancient garden in the rear of the house, filled with olive trees. Behind them, the sky was filled with the most dramatic, blood-red sunset Caitlin had ever seen. Caitlin stood there, gasping for air, and the two of them turned and looked at her. Judas’s face suddenly filled with apprehension at the sight of her, and he quickly turned and hurried out of the garden, slithering through a side entrance.
