The same tone.
The same cruelty.
She took a breath.
Then she looked Isabella straight in the eyes.
“Maybe,” Judy said gently. “But at least he chose me.”
Silence.
Isabella froze.
Judy continued, her voice still soft.
“And even if he didn’t,” she added, “I would still choose myself.”
Isabella’s mouth opened, but no words came out.
Judy took a small step closer.
“You wear expensive clothes,” Judy said calmly. “But you’re very loud.”
