Jack walked up to his desk and immediately turned on his computer. After entering his password and fingerprint, the computer did not start up as usual, but instead went black. He furrowed his brows, feeling a sense of foreboding. Just as he was about to shut down and restart the computer, several animated characters suddenly appeared on the screen. Richard sometimes watched cartoons, and Jack had seen them occasionally when he visited his old home. He recognized the characters as Peppa Pig and her family.

Hope loves spending time with him. “Daddy, please meet Hopi after school. I have to tell you something. Now bye, Daddy. Hope is getting late for school.” After sending him the voice message, I put the phone back on the table. When Mommy told me about her new job, I became so upset. I was just about to cry loudly to stop mommy from going to work, but then I remembered how sad she was yesterday. That’s why I didn’t want to make her sadder by crying. Mommy always says that she wants to make her Hopi happy. So, I decided to be brave and let mommy go to her job. But deep down, I’m going to miss her so much.

“And that’s why it hurts. Clark Knight is a coward. He chose money over loyalty.” I looked at Sophia, at the friend who had been stronger than me all my life. She had never let me feel alone, even when the world treated me like I was invisible. She had held me when I was humiliated, whispered words of courage when I felt weak, and fought for me when I couldn’t fight for myself. My phone buzzed. Unknown number. A message appeared: **“We need to talk, Judy. I can help you.”** Another followed: **“About your mother.”**

"I need everything on New Horizons Behavioral Correction Center. Founder, licensing, any cases tied to them. Everything." She paused. "I'll cover the cost myself. He doesn't need to know." Her voice wasn't sharp like it used to be. It was quieter now, heavier. I pulled the blanket tighter around me, nails scraping along the seam in the floor. Judy had been shaped by those three years, too. Her obedience wasn't real. It was out of fear. Same as me. I was locked inside the cage, while she was forced to stand outside and watch. We were both ground down the same way.

While delivering documents to Chairman Perona, Judy saw her in a professional suit managing her business decisively, a testament to how formidable she must have been in her youth. Lost in thought, Judy remembered her dream, where her mother had attributes similar to Perona. As Judy was leaving Perona's office, the Deputy General Manager called her to assist a visitor. After escorting the guest downstairs and about to return, Judy noticed a crowd and went over out of curiosity. It was Lewis's grandmother, unassisted on the ground, with passersby wary of helping her due to fears of being accused falsely. Judy, moved by compassion, went over to help despite warnings from onlookers.

The assistant hurriedly introduced himself, “I’m Mr. Fox's assistant. My name is Harper Saw.” Charlie nodded and said, “Please help us pass the message to Mr. Fox. Miss Golding’s bodyguards informed us that we suddenly lost the communication signal here. This is a great safety hazard. For Miss Golding’s safety, we have to leave first!”

“Woooh! Look at mom go!” Four tiny puppy heads watched as their mother jumped over the bushes three feet tall while they were taking a walk. After clearing the jump, Lily, their mother, peeped through the tiny space between the leaves - “Pass through here, my little boys. One day, you’ll be able to jump like that!” The puppies looked at one another, tails wagging except for Polly who still had not learned how to move his tiny tail.

Strangely, my sight fell on my friend Jayden; he was from the Faculty of the Prophets, they are wizards. He smiled widely as he approached me and instantly, I knew he wasn't Jayden. Jayden hardly smiles. "Mrs Hopkins!" I yelled in my head as Jayden approached me. Mrs Hopkins was a shapeshifter and I wondered why she decided to approach me looking like my friend. Students from the faculty of prophets do brag that no shapeshifter can take up their forms. "It's all a joke," I muttered as Jayden approached me. "Hi Pal," I gave him a high five and played along.
