What if they malfunction?” she asked. “That’s a good question, Jenny. Have a seat,” Mr. Adrian replied, and the woman sat back down. “As Jenny asked, the robots will perform the chores perfectly, maybe even better than humans when fully charged. To prevent malfunctions, each robot will come with a manual, so owners will know how to operate them properly…” Mr. Adrian continued speaking, but I could feel my eyelids growing heavy.

He knew as well as I did that she was about to embarrass herself. Tony straightened his jacket and spoke louder again, that made it sound like he was giving an announcement. “The Morgan Group’s second-gen robot is here. Motion control—checked. Human-robot interaction—checked. It’s a total breakthrough.” He turned sharply toward us. “But you two…” he paused for effect, then chuckled, “you came empty-handed.” He made a face like a child teasing his playmate. I could almost laugh at how desperate he sounded. I folded my arms, not breaking eye contact. His words didn’t sting anymore. They just sounded… sad. “You talk too much,” I muttered under my breath.

Naya woke up to the sound of a beeping machine. A nurse stood beside her adjusting what looked like a drip. “What is happening? I need to leave!” She tried to drag herself out of bed. The nurse was startled by her sight. She hurriedly rushed out banging the door behind her. Her reaction was strange. Naya could confess that she didn’t understand what was happening. As she tried to remove the drip from her arm, a doctor hurried in and grabbed her arm stopping her from doing so.

Jian Jianan was actually about to leave, but she was attracted to the two robots before she took off, so she went to have a closer look. Those robots were very cute, and apparently designed to look like a guy and a girl. As Jian Jianan approached them, the robots bowed to her. “Good afternoon, Ms. Jian.” Their endearing behavior lightened up Jian Jianan’s mood tremendously. “Hello. What are your names?” “I’m Jack, and this is my wife, Rose.” Jian Jianan could not help but grimace. “Like from ‘Titanic’?” “Yes, we love ‘Titanic’, especially its love story. It’s so tragically beautiful and romantic. If you want to see it, we can fulfill your wish.”

The smoke triggers all the fire sprinkles and I watch as water begins to pour out. "Water, water, everywhere," I say, watching as the scrap metal robots start to short-circuit. They spark and shake and their eyes flash on and off before falling over. "More than enough to take down those junk bots." Seeing the scrap metal robot down, QuickShot lowers her arms. As she does, she too falls but Ms. Justice and JumpStart catch her in time. "Are you okay," Ms. Justice asks. "I'm fine," QuickShot whispers. She nods her hanging head.
