The sunlight seeped in slowly through the linen curtains—warm, golden, and languid. It bathed everything in warm, forgiving hues. Lily woke up for the first time in a long time without the weight of nightmares. No jolts. No screams muffled in her throat. Just breath. Steady. Real.

Chapter Four: The Shock Even in the darkness, the light will always find a way. Ella’s POV I feel it coming on, I start to get dizzy and the ground starts to spin. I am going to faint. I try to push myself to just make it into the door, but I know I’m not going to make it. Damn it Ella come on I am telling myself. Everything starts to go spotty and I do the only thing I can think of, I grab onto Liam’s arm and make him take the baby. With that my entire world goes black. Shit.

As I'm walking on one leg holding on to the counter. I see the light switch, I want to turn it on just For a second, so I can get the glass cleaned up. It's still daylight a little bit, the cabin wouldn't light up that much. Not like they would notice it in the dark. So, I flipped a light switch on.

Black as the darkest night hair against a crisp linen pillow, brown skin against a blindingly white sheet, and tiger’s eyes burning with deliberate cruelty and triumph into hers. In horrified rejection of the imagery that had sprung into her mind, Lara Anderson shuddered violently, dimly aware that she was still in the grip of severe shock. Abruptly, she was dredged from her turmoil by the insistent shrill of the telephone in the hall. Reluctantly she answered the summons, carefully shutting the lounge door behind her so that her father was not disturbed.

"You okay?" Lucas asked gravelly, slightly narrowing his eyes as it adjusted to the darkness. The right part of the room is dark. Only the faint light of the machine kept the door visible. On my left, the window made it well lit. Lucas' face was brightly illuminated with the light coming from his laptop screen. Suddenly his bone structure was improved, highlighted by the glow of his computer.

Returning my gaze back to the rock in my hands I'm to connect with it? I feel ridiculous. “Please put off the false lights, I believe it is distracting the Silver one” I swallow a laugh, false light? He talks really weirdly. Lily who hasn’t let up with her flashlight dimmed it and then turned it off completely. As the flashlight went out, the rock in my hand suddenly glows brighter I nearly drop it in surprise, it is not bright enough to be blinding or to illuminate a completely dark room but quiet, bright. The soft light slips between my fingers and I stare at it, fascinated.

Light concerns. I nodded my head in understatement but I was shivering in pain. The pain in my heart is excrutiating out but I was keeping it back. Not showing anyone how weak i am from the inside. “Are you okay? You haven't replied.” Light asks worriedly. “I am sorry, I was distracted. What were you saying?” I apologize. “I think we should try this once you clarify your doubts. I hope it will work with you?” Light suggests.

The only things that match exactly are the two machetes in leather scabbards hanging from their waists. Lights is the oldest male Miracle, born the day after Radar. His real name is Javier. He’s a slender guy of Mexican descent, just a couple inches taller than me, with olive skin and longish black hair he keeps cut short in the front to keep it out of his yellow-gold eyes. His eyes were dark brown until his Power appeared several years ago, when they turned golden. His Power, as his nickname suggests, is light. He can create balls of light with either hand, or shoot a beam of light from his eyes. As he’s gotten older, he’s learned to control the size and the brightness of the balls and beam

Because I am right here beside her. I caught a glimpse of the moon lamp placed on top of the table near the bed. The lamp produces a dimmed yellow light in one part of the room. The light is not too much but just enough for me to see their faces in the dark. I observed how the yellow light softly shines alone in one corner of the dark room.

“It roars.” “It hums,” I said. “And that’s good. Humming means functioning.” “Humming means hungry.” “Your frame of reference is broken.” I flicked the headlights on. He recoiled. “They glow like the ring.” “They are LED.” “I thought that was the demon rectangle.” “That’s also LED.” “Why do your lights all bear the same name?” he demanded. “Are they related?” “They’re… diodes.” “That explains nothing.” “Good,” I said. “Welcome to modern technology.”
