What a great first impression. “Sorry, didn’t mean to startle you. I am Jonathan. This is my brother, Jake. Jordan invited us over.” While Jonathan was definitely good looking, it was Jake who had caught my eye as the brothers had walked up. “Nice to meet both of you, I am Amalia” I replied, hoping to pull myself together and not continue to look ridiculous. “Jordan is inside getting the meat ready to put on the grill.” I motioned toward the back door. “I will go see if she needs any help,” Jonathan responded as he walked into the house, leaving Jake and I outside.

He did not even hesitate to get into an argument with his grandfather, Cadfan, before driving to Aurous Hill on his own overnight. However, during these past few days, Jefferson felt that Jaime seemed to be paying less and less attention to his mother and sister’s affairs. Although he was still in Aurous Hill, he was rarely directly involved in the search for his mother and sister’s whereabouts. He was always busy with some concert matter every day, and it seemed as though the concert was even more important to him as compared to his mother and sister. Still, Jefferson did not say anything at this time, and he simply suppressed the dissatisfaction that he was feeling in his heart.

" As the discussion buzzed, Justin made his way through the crowd until he stood before the Taylors. "Hello, Mr. Winston. It's a pleasure to finally meet you," Justin greeted politely, his hand raised despite his immobility. Still, he really only lived alone, so it felt spacious. Jefferson's older brother died, making him an only child at fifteen. While his father died when he entered the police academy, and his mother died shortly after he was accepted as a young police officer. So that's why Jefferson is alone now. He also refuses to live with her father's or mother's siblings; he doesn't want to leave the house. All those memories are priceless and can't be replaced by anything. Jefferson wanted to stay in this house as long as he could.

"Wow, I haven't seen you in forever! How have you been? You just dropped off the face of the earth!" Before she could answer, a heavy arm draped over her shoulders, pulling her back into a hard, familiar chest. Justin’s scent, soap, spice, and pure menace, enveloped her. "There you are, baby," Justin said, his voice a honey-smooth lie. He pressed a kiss to her temple, his lips lingering a second too long. His grip on her shoulder was vice-tight. He looked at Ben, and his friendly smile didn’t reach his eyes, which were chips of black ice. "I'm Justin, her brother. And you are?"

Jake Jefferson’s body had been disposed of. Poison had gotten creative and Jake knew that he’d never be found. Maybe there was something wrong with him, because he didn’t care, not that his brother was dead or that his parents would never have closure. Jefferson had been delusional. He’d never been the golden boy, it had always been Jefferson. His mother didn’t even remember his favorite meal, but like all things from his past, he simply put it out of his mind and carried on with his life.

" He said, taking a step forward. That was when I noticed the banged on his forehead and as much as I was tempted to ask what happened, I had to hold back. Justin was seated in my living room while I prepared coffee for him in the kitchen. I did not know what to expect from his visit but I had an uneasy feeling. "You have ten minutes." I said, handing over the mug of coffee. "Thank you." He said, collecting it from me. "How are you coping with the demise of your brother?" he asked, his voice laden with concern. "I will be fine." I said, avoiding eye contact with him. "Start talking." I added, crossing both of my hands under my breast.
