“Sit on the couch and work on this for a bit. Once I finish with these urgent tasks, I’ll come play with you,” Justin said smoothly, his movements practiced and natural. ‘Alex’ took the papers, standing still as he looked up at the towering Justin. “So, this is the Uncle Justin my brother keeps talking about?” he muttered to himself. Chase didn’t feel much. After all, Wilfred, Richard, and even the bodyguards at home were all just as tall.

I hate it. Leaving them alone wasn't something I was happy about either, but I knew that Justin was with them and that was why I was able to make that bold decision.. Justin is my big brother, even though we don't share a drop of blood. My father adopted him after his entire family died in a massacre that also killed Darrell's elder brother. Justin was the only survivor that day. And since then, he's been more of a real brother to me than most people get with their actual siblings.

-00- Jefferson was pensive in his study alone. His palms were busy stroking the only family photo he had. The photo was taken on Anthony's fifth birthday. At that time, he and his son, his daughter-in-law and Anthony were staying at his private resort in Miami. They spent the whole weekend having fun and granted Anthony's wish to go sailing. They took photos on the yacht with happiness framing each other's faces. Jefferson did not expect that trip would be his last trip with his son and daughter-in-law. They were so busy over the next few years that they never had time to take another vacation together. “Come in.”

The call ended, leaving the room quieter than before. He leaned back in his chair, staring at the ceiling. Somewhere out there was a brother he had never met, a person who shared his face, his blood, his origin. It was the one unresolved thread in his life, the one question that never quite let him rest. And lately, it felt as though everything was pulling too close at once. His job. His search. And a student he had no right to think about the way he did. Exhaling slowly, he reached for the stack of essays on his desk, forcing himself back into familiar ground. Distance, he reminded himself, was the only way forward.

Jeff remarked. "I'm good, the little brother is a chicken. The whole family has already decided that I'm the best successor," Braston smirked arrogantly. "Don't get too convinced, this is much more than just killing," he said with a wicked grin, revealing his yellow teeth amidst the Cuban cigar. "Give me some more time, it's still a long way to go for me to take over. Mistakes happen, but this one can be corrected." "Don't think it's that much time. I can make your brother the successor tomorrow if I want to," Jeff said calmly, straightening his collar hidden by the coat.

Jameson almost killed her that day. Another time, she found her brother's only clean pair of underwear and she hid it. Jefferson spent the entire morning searching for it until he finally decided to go out with no underwear. When he came back, he found the underwear neatly folded on his bed and a sweet note from his sister that read, did you have a nice day?. He almost ran mad.

"Just... get the fuck out." Jefferson chuckled low, unfazed. He reached out, brushing a stray hair from her cheek with a thick finger, the touch electric. "Feisty. I like that. But alright, I'm going. Justin, man, we'll talk later. Hit me up when the coast is clear." He shot her brother a wink, then turned, his ass flexing in those tight jeans as he brushed past her. Justin, now half-dressed, stood awkwardly. "Jefferson, wait—"

Justin was laying on the ground helplessly and his brother had a grin on his face. “Take him to the room and whip him until he is unconscious make sure you give him the special treatment, I think he has forgotten his place and his duties to me!” she ordered them and Justin pleaded with his mother to spare him he knew how bad the special treatment was, a person could barely come out alive from that place

"It’s how much you’ve managed to achieve, being my father’s closest friend. Even after his death, you kept on climbing, didn’t you?" The table grew tense as Justin chuckled bitterly. "Look how far you’ve come—Mr. Tom Jefferson, stepfather of three, not four and late husband to the wealthy Mrs. Sonia Martínez." Mr. Tom furrowed his brow, setting his glass down. "What exactly are you implying, Justin?" Justin shook his head, his thumb still soothingly caressing my neck. "Oh, nothing. I just figured since everyone is so curious about my wife’s family, it’s only fair to share some of my family matters."

Justin looked at me and something shifted in his expression – like he had decided to let me in on something. Although, my question and why Al wanted the evidence was answered when Justin nodded back Al in greeting (or farewell) and said- "Brother."
