Naiayos na ng mga magulang nila ang papel sa kanilang kasal at ang tanging hinihintay na lamang nila ay magkaanak at dalawa ngunit sa kasamaang palad ay ayaw ng lalaki kay Monica dahil alam rin nito na pera lamang ang habol nito at kanilang ari arian. Pero matapang at buong loob pa rin sa Monica sa kaniyang binabalak. Sa umpisa ng kanilang pagsasama ay, makikita na ayaw na ayaw talaga ni Fabian kay Monica ngunit may mga bagay na pinapatunayan si Monica at napapabilib nito ang lalaki at abangan sa mga susunod na kabanata kung ano nga ba kahihinatnan nang kanilang pagsasasama.
