His eyes opened—slitted, unfocused, steel-grey clouded with drugs and pain—and slowly, slowly found her. Jennifer crossed the room, took his hand, and leaned down until her voice was only for him. “I’m right here,” she whispered. “You’re safe. Evelyn's POV "I, Alpha Kyle Turner, reject you, Evelyn Sanders, as my mate." Alpha Kyle hoarse voice boomed in my ears making me freeze on my tracks, his voice laced with disgust. Crack! A cracking sound resounded inside my body and I felt as if a part of me was forcefully torn and taken away. My wolf howled in pain but there was nothing I could do about it. Carter said, as he looked at him. “Carter, is it? I’m Kai’s father, and on that authority, I’ll do as I see fit. Let’s see who has the guts to take me on,” Kiran said calmly, as he watched Carter. Kai had told Kiran about Carter and he agreed with Kai, Carter had the makings of a great Zeta, and he could sense his loyalty to Kai. “Yes, sir,” Carter said. “Now leave us, the Princess is quite safe with me,” Kiran said, and turned back to the windows.

Carter hesitated and then sighed, pulling out his phone and texting Alec, saying that Khione had requested him to accompany her for coffee and asking him to come sooner to take over.

Kai has hard muscles, warrior tattoos, with weapons strapped to his back. Kane was lean; he didn’t have the body of a warrior, but that of a dancer. Gold tattoos traced across his lean form. He looked like a god. Kane slowly lowered him to the ground. As soon as Kai's foot hit the ground, he bared his fangs and growled.
